Summer Eats + Drinks in The Twin Cities

The best places to get a drink and or eat good food summer 2020.

There is limited restaurants, and bars in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area this summer, and it's in good cause, but sometimes a nice drink and some delicious food is too hard to resists. These bars and restaurants are my favorite places to go to this summer. With everything closed, we only have two options: enjoy the outdoors & eat good food with friends. Close to all of these restaurants also have patios or rooftops which is also a plus!

1.Taqueria y birrieria las cuatro milpas

If you know me, you know I love latin food, & once I saw everyone trying birria tacos I dug for answers and found this holy freaking grail of a spot on Lake St. and to this day cannot stop eating it. BEST. TACOS. EVER.

My Pick: tacos durados birria con queso or birria quesadilla with consome *if you buy five tacos you get a cup of soup for free!

2. Eggy's Diner

Eggy's is the most classic brunch spot in Minneapolis and has a delicious menu full of breakfast and lunch options that will keep you coming back to try a new thing.

My Pick: Nutella Crepes, Chicken & Waffles, or the Mexican Skillet

3. Chimborazo

This is a Ecuadorean restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis that I loved on the first try. The food was amazing and I can't wait to stop by again.

My Pick: Llapingachos Con Chorizo & Empanada Con Queso (pictured)

4. Hola Arepa

An American twist on arepas is found at this cute little restaurant in Uptown Minneapolis. They turn arepas into sandwiches and you won't be disappointed by the uca fries either.

My Pick: Beef & Sweet Plantain Arepa (pictured)

5. Soul Bowl

Baked Mac & Cheese is my guilty pleasure and reminds me of the holidays and that means soul bowl is my guilty pleasure too. Soul Food in the pickup style of chipotle for fast service. You can't go wrong with some good southern food.

My Pick: The Southern Bowl & Jamaican Pineapple Ginger Beer

1. Yard House

This has been my favorite spot for drinks this summer. Yard house has a huge outdoor patio out in Saint Louis Park. There drink menu is full of refreshing choices. I may have tried every flavor of Mojito in one sitting, don't ask questions just head there.

My Pick: Mango Mojito

2. Cowboy Jacks

A nice patio, good appetizers, drinks, and happy hour screams summer louder than anything else, that's what Jack's is bringing to the table. A casual drink after work or just for fun with friends.

My Pick: Double 07

Frozen Strawberry Margarita @ Yard House

3.Sugar Factory

Wanna get dressed up and get drinks with the gals? This is the perfect spot for you. Big ginourmous colorful drinks, and burgers that look like their from SpongeBob. Every drink is good and the display is like nothing less.

My Pick: Anything

4. Newsroom

The Newsroom is the cutest brewery and restaurant in Downtown, Minneapolis. It's giving me Sherlock Holmes. They have a ridiculous list of taps and great cocktails too.

My Pick: Strawberry Basil Smash Cocktail

5. Psycho Suzi's Motorlounge

You can't end this summer without going to Psycho Suzi's dressed up like you're going to a tiki party, okay maybe not the tiki party outfit. They have yummy tropical drinks and cute decorations that gives you Hawaii vibes in Minnesota.

My Pick: The Beachcomber

Eat + Drink!

1. Union Rooftop

Union Rooftop was made for fun early afternoons with friends. Bottomless mimosas that literally have no bottom during brunch. Great food, rooftop vibes, in the city, perfect. A DJ playing music and occasionally a drag show! It doesn't get any better than this.

My Pick: The Breakfast Quesadilla & Bottomless Mimosas

2. Red Cow

The food at Red Cow is phenomenal and the drinks are worth your while. It has a variety of food options including a brunch menu. The Froze is something else.

My Pick: Brunch Burger & Froze

Buffalo Eggs Benedict, Bottomless Mimosa, & Steak Hash @ Union

3. Hi-Lo Diner

Another diner that can hold its own. Hi-Lo looks like a diner from the 50's and has food and drinks that are great for the morning after.

My Pick: Hash Stuffed Hash & A Sunkissed Cocktail

4. The Freehouse

Brunch, is there a theme going on here? Freehouse has great food and even better sweet drinks and a variety of taps. Enjoy your food inside, or in a bubble on their patio. Your choice.

My Pick: Andouille Hash with Frenchtoast & The Black Cherry Old Fashioned

Hash Stuffed Hash @ Hi-Lo

5. The Loop

Loop has a great variety of food and drinks for a casual dinner or lunch date with your partner or friends. Their patio has a nice view and is great for a quick bite and a nice drink.

My Pick: Buffalo Chicken Salad & Strawberry Basil Soda

Go treat yourself this weekend, and that's an order.
